Mrs. Hughes was a long-time resident of Pembroke and attended The Advent Christian Church of Pembroke. She loved reading the Bible, baking and took great joy from giving her homemade sweets away. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Howard Hughes. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy V. and Raymond Tate of Ellsworth, ME, Pamela M. and Rod Drazich of Redding, CA, Terry R. and Roy VanGiller of Pembroke and Valerie Hughes of Brunswick; seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Rev. Robert G. and Virgene Hughes of Pembroke; David S. Hughes of Black Creek, Jesse and Clara Hughes of Farmington, MN, Donald and Lilla Brooks Hughes of Orange Park, FL, H. Glenn and Judy Hughes of Pembroke, R. Patrick, Vicki Hughes of Pembroke and Russell and Beth Hughes of Pembroke; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, four great -great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert G. Hughes officiating.
