Savannah, Chatham Co GA USA - Elias Lafayette McDilda, Jr., affectionately known as "Moo", 89, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007. He retired from CSX Railroad after 49 years of service. A devoted and committed husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a character who thrived on making others laugh and was loved by many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Adams McDilda. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara M. Jacobs of Tybee Island; two grandsons and their wives, H. Alan and Frannie Strickland of Savannah and Joseph T. and Alicia Brinson of Effingham County; five great grandchildren, Lyndsey, McKenzie and Kristen Brinson, Kaitlyn Strickland and Joel. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons, Georgia. The family will process from the Islands Chapel on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Mike McKinley, Terry Collins and David Strickland.
