James Robert (Sonny) Harris Sr. 73, a native of Savannah and resident of Lyons GA passed away August 30 2006. He retired from Candler Hospital after 30 years of service as head of electronics and communications, was a ham-radio operator, and a former avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Anna Harris; sisters, Carolyn H. Collins and Kathryn H. Pritchard. Survivors include: wife, Shirley Branch Harris; children, James Robert Jr. (Gertie) Harris, Edward Bradley (Sheila) Harris, Anna Lisa Harris, Laura (Pat) Allen, Linda (Chuck) Smith, Lila (Michael) Garretson; sisters, Frances (Roy) Chastain, Lila (Bob) Bravard of Lexington, Kentucky, Rose Marie Bowen of Houston, Texas, Lillian Hinely, Linda (Jerry) Zeigler of Marietta, GA, and brother Lewis John Sr. (Bonnie) Harris; grandchildren, Allison, Lindsay, Anna Harris, Wesley W. Woods Jr., Casey, Samantha, Grayson Allen, Michael, Mallory Garretson, James Robert III, and Chance Harris. Step-children, Allen (Barbara) Hargrove, Steve (Angie) Hargrove, Pam (Danny) Cline, Cathy Hargrove; four step-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Memorial Services: 3 p.m. September 2,2006 at Jones -Stewart Funeral Home Chapel Lyon's GA, and a second Memorial Service and Reception, 2 p.m. September 3, 2006 at Wesley Oak Methodist Church in Thunderbolt, GA.
