He was a Glazier and his hobbies included wood crafting and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hodges; children and spouses, Angie & Dale Hughes, Derrell Lavon & Elizabeth Hodges and Randy Hodges and Teri Herrington; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Summer Hughes, Casey Hodges, Jimmie and Brittany Holton; great-grandchildren, Cameron Hughes and Little Philip Hughes, Jr.two sisters, one brother, several nieces and nephews and his special friend, Joel Carter. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral: 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
