Savannah - Sophie Richman Perlman, 97, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 in Savannah. Mrs. Perlman, a native of Savannah was born on August 4, 1908, the daughter of the late Mendel and Sarah Richman. Sophie and her husband, the late Simon Perlman operated S&S Market on West Broad Street until 1947. She was a homemaker for several years following and ultimately worked for B&B Paint as their bookkeeper for many years. Sophie was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim Synagogue, the Hebrew Women's Aid Society, Hadassah and the AA Sisterhood, of which she was a former recording secretary for many years. Mrs. Perlman was preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, Simon Perlman. She is survived by her son, Arnold Perlman and wife Eileen of Atlanta; daughter, Harriet Karlin of Savannah; grandchildren, Barry and Sandra Karlin, both of Savannah, Sheri Novick and husband Steve, Michelle Horesh and husband Jospeh, all of Atlanta, Scott Perlman and wife Caroline of Greenville, SC and five great grandchildren. Graveside service: 1:00 p.m., Friday at Bonaventure Cemetery.
