Savannah - Rietta Stokes Burnsed, 63, of Savannah, Georgia, died Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2007, at Hospice Savannah surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late James Sylvester Stokes and Emma Jean McCook Stokes. Rietta was a Christian and a homemaker. She was devoted to her family and loved gardening and crocheting. In earlier years Rietta was a model for a local agency and won several trophies for dancing at Nick's Dance Studio. Surviving are three daughters, Maria Burnsed, Sandra Burnsed-Murray and her husband, Stacey, and Sherry Ann Lupica and her husband, Ted, all of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Eddie Burnsed and Richard Burnsed, both of Savannah, Georgia; her former husband, Edmon Burnsed of Tybee Island, Georgia; three sisters, Vickie Eckert of New Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary Meservy of savannah, Georgia, and Sylvia Sykes and her husband, Larry, of Guyton, Georgia; two brothers, The Reverend Dr. William H. Ford and his wife, Boonie, of Macon, Georgia, and James Stokes and his wife, Debbie, of Guyton, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Juanita, Mickie, and Elise and her husband, Bud; two brothers-in-law, David and his wife, Frances, and Junior; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amber, Cierra, Joshua, Brandon, Noah, Guy, Teddy and Theresa; four great- grandchildren, Caleb, whom she reared, MaKenzie, Brice, and Arianna, and many other relatives. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Saturday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. William H. Ford. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
