E. "Gene" Dukes, died Tuesday afternoon, January 9, 2007, at home under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ira DuBose and Carolyn Cone DuBose. Mrs. Dukes was a longtime member of Cresthill Baptist Church where she served as a former church secretary, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, and WMU Director. Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn D. Sinclair and her husband, Jack, Suzanne "Sue" Williams and her husband, Ben, and Janice Vaughn and her husband, Greg, all of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Richard E. Dukes and his wife, Suzann, of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren, Carol Greenway and her husband Terry, Ernie Dukes and his wife Karen, Nikki Anson and her husband Noel, Courtney Watson and her husband Glenn, Suzanne Lin and her husband Ankao, Mark Williams and his wife Nikki, David Gantt and Brian Gantt and his wife Jenny, and seven great-grandchildren, Kari Greenway, Kory Greenway, Kayla Watson, Bailey Lin, Andrew Lin, Sarah Anson and Ashlyn Williams; one brother, John Edward DuBose of Guyton, GA; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Strickland and Lillian Piper; a cousin with whom she was very close, Lois Vickers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Rev. T. Kenneth Jernigan. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Terry Greenway, Ankao Lin, Mark Williams, Ernie Dukes, David Gantt, Brian Gantt, Noel Anson and Glenn Watson.
