Many years ago, my elderly neighbour moved to Australia to be nearer to her son. We kept in touch by letter, and on one occasion her letter contained a couple of these (unused) stamps, which commemorated the finding of the biggest opal in Australian history. They were a sell-out on the first day....not surprisingly. I thought it was too nice to keep to myself, so here it is!

It conveys so many things to me! The beautiful co-ordination of colours, memories and people's simple love for each other... All these little yet great things remind us that we do belong somewhere! Thank you!

Thanks Lie, I have had them in my desk drawer since 1995, when they arrived!! You may have gathered that I am a hoarder, and find it difficult to throw anything away.....!

Beautiful stamp!
Not just gorgeous to look at, but also to serve as a reminder that true friendship is not restricted by distance or borders.

A lovely stamp indeed :) I, too, am a hoarder. I collected first day covers for many years and have several albums of them tucked away in a drawer - you have inspired me to get them out & have a look through them again :)

I'm glad you are inspired to look at your stamps again Barbara...there are so many lovely ones now...I used to wish we had nicer stamps when I was a teenager and had foreign penfriends - their letters always had lovely stamps!!
