the Village has two little enclosed snowblowers and clears all the sidewalks within two hours of the time snow fall ends. Driveways, on the other hand, are the responsibility of the home owners.

My attention was drawn to the number of wires hanging across the road. If the snow were to be heavy enough to bring all those down....

Snow generally doesn't do that. Ice buildup from freezing rain on the other hand . . ..
However, Altamont was one of the few places around that had no power outages during the major December ice storm. Regionwide at least 250,000 people lost power.
