The Alhambra tiles decorating the walls - both inside and outside - were designed in beautiful and complicated patterns. They date back as far as the 14th century. In spite of their being damaged a bit here and there, they still show us all their bold and colourful splendour.

The Dutch painter M.C. Escher got a lot of his inspiration from these moorish tiles.
After he had first steen them he started to develop his painting with birds becoming fish and other variations...
