Holland - ferry Beverwijk-IJmuiden vice versa
Because of yesterday's splendid weather lots of people went with their bikes on the ferry, so that I had to stay in the covered part in stead of in the open air, and there I noticed this poem on the ferry's wall. I will try and translate it for you:
Now that the weather
is so bad
and the waves
are so high
I endlessly praise
the virtues of the sea.
I call her
mother of all things
as smooth as glass,
and depth without a trace of evil
and bride of all the lonely ones
and sea of all that is good.
Later on in the harbour
I shall call her whore once again
and worn tarted-up woman.
