Mill De Adriaan with in the background the cupola of the prison De Koepel
Mill De Adriaan, eightcornered corn mill.
De Adriaan was built in the year 1779. Burnt down in 1932. Rebuilt in 1999. Since the mill is situated in a city, it had to be built on top of another building in order to catch the wind. The original mill, the one that was burnt down, was built on top of one of the city walls, surrounding Haarlem and protecting it against invaders. | |
