Like in Amsterdam thousands and thousands of people from the Zaan region went on strike to protest against the prosecution of the jewish citizens by the nazi occupant. This statue group by Truus Menger was revealed by the mayor of Zaandam on February 26, 2001 to commemorate the February strike.
