Holland - IJmuiden - North Sea Channel and sleuzes
At the left you will find the Small Sleuze and the Southern Sleuze (a ship has just left it, you can still see its track in the water), in the centre of the picture is the Middle Sleuze, and at the right is the Northern Sleuze, which is the largest. The IJmuiden sleuzes are open all around the clock to give ships access to the tidal free harbours of Beverwijk, Zaandam, and Amsterdam.

No, today I was away on my bike. Other people flew and made this photo, which is exactly what I needed to illustrate my story about the sleuzes.
A couple of years ago on returning to Schiphol airport the plane went twice over IJmuiden, the North Sea Channel and the sleuzes, it was great to see everything so clearly from the sky.

IJmuiden and the hoogovens are always easy to recognize, from the air as wel from sea !

Yes Eva, I have lived since 5 years in IJmuiden now, and yes I have some pictures of Amsterdam. I will come back on this later. I lived in Amsterdam from my 15th until my 48th year, so I know this city pretty well. I intend to make some visits to Amsterdam and make lots of pictures. I will send you a message as soon as I shall have uploaded them.
