Spain - Granada - The Alhambra
One of the breathtaking palaces in the Alhambra, mirroring itself in a pond aligned by meticulously cut hedges (de Myrthenhof in dutch).

On the first floor you can see (please look at it in original view and then click on enlarge) nice wooden fences in front of the windows, through which the ladies of the sultan's household could see without being seen... :)

I read a lot about the history of the moorish people in Spain, and I am in awe of what they built there and what they already achieved such a long time ago, both in artistical ways and in technical aspects. Also their society had room for islamic people, christian people and jewish people living most of the time in peace together!!!

Thank you so much dear Nikonone: I have just discovered that I have another picture of the same building, courtyard and pond WITHOUT people. I shall upload that one later. It is special because The Alhambra is on the Unesco World Heritage List, and a limited number of people is admitted during one day, but nevertheless it is hard to make pictures wihtout tourists appearing on them... In between two of such flows of fresh visitors I managed to make a shot of this great palace and courtyard not yet invaded... :)))
