One of the old and very worn bearings from the bells of St Mark, Cheltenham. This one dates from 1885. Length approx 8 inches. These were replaced with modern ball bearings in 2007 when the whole ring was overhauled.

Hope they didn't trew these bearings away! They should be exposed for people who care about historical things. Are they made of cast iron?

No we didn't throw them away. They're really heavy and make good doorstops once they have been degreased!
Yes, I think the outer part is made of iron. The inner part is brass though.
