The third day of my trip began in the town of Benton, at the foot of the White Mountains. Terry, Carol, Christine and I took a hike into Queen Canyon, driving up a rugged dirt road to about 9500 feet. First we stopped to admire this rhyolite ash bed. I collected a handful of obsidian chips from the ground, refuse from the Indians of long ago. After this hike, I set out for home, stopping in the town of Walker, California. | |
