Steel Joshua tree created by J. P. Gorman of Ridgecrest, California, at the abandoned Blue Max Mine site. The Bureau of Land Management controls the land, and this is their nod to historical preservation. The Blue Max Mine produced scheelite, or tungsten ore, from 1963 to 1985 and milled it here. The mine was up in the southern Sierra Nevada, in the background. This was on day two of my trip through eastern California last month. | |
