The Audiffred Building is the only building left from San Francisco's original waterfront. It survived the 1906 earthquake and fires when, the story has it, the proprietor of The Bulkhead, a tavern on the ground floor, bribed the firefighters with wine and whiskey to save the structure. Now it houses the tony Boulevard restaurant and lots of history. See the details in the full-size pic.
