The old Cox Buick/Cadillac building in Oakland, a classic car dealership from around 1930 I think, will be reborn as a supermarket. Yesterday it was a steel skeleton and three walls. I took this shot from the top of parking structure a few blocks away. As it happens, the Oakland paper had some photos of the same building today.

Was it burned out or just fallen into decay?

The building was just old and decrepit. But back in the day, around 1925, car dealerships were really luxurious. This building has lovely detailing and a really solid concrete floor. Some other dealers of this vintage have been torn down. But Oakland has a lot of classic, or just old, car shops and dealerships along Broadway from back when you'd go to the city for major purchases.
