Oakland transect, #1:

One day last fall I set out to walk the length of Oakland, from south to north, about 12 miles. Here's the city line, where San Leandro begins, on San Leandro Boulevard. The railroad tracks and the elevated BART line run along here all the way to downtown, about 8 miles.
