Acacia Ave and Manchester Dr in upper Broadway Terrace, Oakland. The house at center was built around 1950, like much of the area. The 1991 Oakland Hills wildfire swept over the hilltop, stopping here as the wind finally ebbed and the fire crews could begin to hold their lines. All these years later, the saved house sits amid empty lots. The one on the left has old garden terraces along the back, still planted with flowers by the neighbors.
