Yes, we have some letters in Czech language too, but it was obligatory to publishe in Russian scientist letters. Our friend for example eked out one's salary with trnslation short !abstracts" from "west" scientist periodic letters in English for central Academy bibliothek. Unperiodic press and books from "imperialist" world" was big problem in this time ... like English language for numerous scientis ...russian we all learned in school obligatory

same as in a great part of eastern europe ....
