Have you heard of the English TV series from the 1970s called "Are You Being Served"? It was set in a very old-fashioned department store called Grace Brothers. I wonder if the series was named after your store?
Are both buildings that we can see here part of the same store? They look the same.

The Sydney Grace Bros have been around since the 1880s & that store was built early last century - I've seen different references to dates, so I'll leave the exact dates to anyone who knows for sure :) My old Sydney street directory shows both buildings as being the same store, with another building behind. It is now preserved and restored as the Broadway shopping centre - http://www.broadway-centre.com.au/about-us
