A day out to discover Gillespies Beach near Fox Glacier township on the West Coast of New Zealand. The beach is covered in stones varying in size, getting smaller as you get closer to the waterline. There is driftwood lying twisted and tortured all over the beach. It would be fascinating on a stormy day when the sea was rough and washing up more wood and trees.

Great image, I love the way the tones go from dark to light as you move into the image from the bottom.

Thanks Doug. The cloud was coming up the coast and had just covered the sun so I did the old point and shoot trick and it worked out well.

Not that we found. Weather permitting on Monday, we plan to go to Hunts Beach south of Fox, to look for blue stones from Jacobs River. Will keep an eye out for beach glass too.

Hi Coocki, it was lovely. Easier on the sand by the water or on the pushed down stones where people had driven. A little difficult in the loose stones but a great afternoon out of the house.
