In 1909 a rich landowner of Sombor, Stevan Konjović left to the Serbian Orthodox Church 110 acres of land, two houses and 80.000 crowns, with the obligation to build a monastery. The works started in 1928 and lasted until 1933. It was built in Serbian-Byzantium style which was rarely used in Vojvodina. Due to the lack of money for the internal decoration, the church had not been painted until 1938 when dr Nenad Bugarski donated the indispensable sum to the monastery.
Around the foundation of Stevan Konjović there is the Partisan and Red-Army Cemetery where the soldiers of the Yugoslav National Liberation Army and Red-Army soldiers killed in the Battle of Batina, were buried.
