Evening sun at Westward Ho! showing the pebble ridge (on the left) and the lights of the village in the distance. The pebble ridge is formed by rocks from the cliffs further along the coast which are gradually rolled along the coast by the tide (giving the rocks the round 'pebble' shape). The ridge prevents the sea from flooding Northam Burrows nature reserve which is a very good thing!
