I love the photographs of James Ravilious, a famous photographer of the Westcountry until his death in 1999.
I set my self a challenge in taking this picture which was to find the Oak Tree that James Ravilious photographed in 1997 - and I found it[best viewed full size].

Click here for James Ravilious's picture entitled "Mondrian's tree":

I hope you find time to look at some of James Ravilious's pictures - they are wonderful!

I think this is the Mondrian tree that inspired the picture : http://kateduffyartpaintings.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/mondrian-grey-tree-painting.jpg

What a great photo and a great idea.

I don't know much about NZ photographers other than Brian Brake who worked for LIFE magazine. I'll never get a chance to recreate his "Monsoon Girl" photo as I'm not likely to travel to India but I did see a photo he took with a back up camera out of a dirty plane window that somehow captured me

I always try and get a window seat and look for these opportunities after seeing that photo
