Bideford long bridge at night (best in original size).
This bridge across the River Torridge dates to the 13th century, it has 24 arches all of different sizes (most likely due to having to build where suitable foundations existed in the river bed). The string of lights in the background are in the rigging of the tall ship the Kathleen and May moored on Brunswick Wharf behind the bridge.
Bideford owes it names to the river crossing (originally By-the-ford), the long bridge is now added to by the downstream bridge shown 4 pictures back.See
