Chinese quail cock bird.
Been kept for ornamental purposes for many centuries in China.
Used to be varieties kept for their song but these have unfortunately died out.
These birds are about the size of a sparrow weighing in at around 4 ozs.
The vegetation is there to provide cover for the birds not effect.

It's not the lens.
I pulled these out of very underexposed originals.
The birds aren't tame enough to photograph properly so these were shot in natural light on a very grey cornish day.
The originals were black.
Just experimenting as to how much I could recover.

Beautiful bird--and a fine recovery from underexposure. What program did you use? I have some in terrible shape!
