A silkie x welsummer pullet bred 2009.
Silkies are reputed for their broodiness.
Propencity for wanting to sit & hatch eggs as apposed to laying them.
With the ever increasing cost of running incubators & heat lamps I thought it was time I let nature do the rearing for me so hopefully this pullet (young hen) & her sisters will help me.

Isn't she beautiful! A while ago I went to a poultry show and couldn't believe how many different breeds there are... usually very carefully hidden away and protected from dingoes, foxes and eagles - and whatever and whoever else regards them as food.

Be interesting to see if the Broody Gene is as strong. Expect it will be. Already I have 3 broody Silkies due to hatch eggs this week.
