A disposable straw & willow nest for thrushes & blackbirds.
Many people put up boxes for the hole nesters.
My attempts at primitive basketry.
Straw rope work was used extensively before corugated cardboard & cheap wooden packaging & archaeologicaly was probably the first types of containers our ancient ancestors used.

Are you going to put the nest out for birds to use Steve?
It will be interesting to see if the birds use it. I liked Levistrauss's anthropological pictures - fascinating - thank you for bringing them to my attention!

Yes Thor.
Had to do something with the willow.I grow two sorts of basket willow to hopefully sell for craft & living willow sculpture.
But as they are young plants & last year was so dry the rods weren't long enough to sell.
I bought the straw from a thatcher.
:)))
If the birds like this one I will make more next winter.
