Male stonechat.
Saxicola torquata.
Gets its common name from its call which sounds just like two pieces of flint being struck together.
Must try & remember to take some flint with me next time & strike up a conversation.
A pretty bird....talking of which....
Around here we have lots, and I really do mean lots of birds.
This morning my cat Socks came dashing into the house with something in her mouth, as usual when she does that she went straight into our bedroom.
She had caught a bee-eater, as you will probably know they are a small very brightly coloured bird.
I sent John to look and fortunatly he managed to get it off her with just the loss of a few feathers, from the bird that is. ;-))
He made sure the bird was OK before letting it fly off... a very lucky escape!
