Steve's Fotothing

OK - Help! What are these birds? Found sitting in this tree and a nearby bush (about a hundred of them) on a freezing cold evening a couple of days ago. They seemed to have forked tails when they flew, but that might have been their colouring. I tried to get flash pictures in flight but it proved impossible.
