Easter Monday 2013 - the cows are all very used to the new system now and love being inside the barn away from the rain and any potential threats.Milk yield has gone up accordingly.

I saw a video on you-tube recently showing cows, having just been released from their winter barn, running and jumping about like young calves; they obviously enjoyed being out in the fields again.
I also have a partner who feels compelled to correct other peoples grammar and spelling, usually mine, just like, it would appear, you do Shelia. :-)
I also like your philosophy on what Fotothings true meaning is.

Is this just at milking time or is this where they are all day (all night?)

They are there all the time. The beds are soft and comfortable, they go for milking whenever they want to and are given extra food as a reward for doing so, they have places to go to have their backs scratched and they never have to get wet and cold or stand up to their ankles in mud. They love it. When they have periods of not being milk producers they can go back in the fields but then the problem is they keep trying to break IN to come back to the milking barn!
