Visit to Bletchley Park and South Coast - Friday 19th August 2011

11. But the main reason for visiting Bletchley is to learn about and see the "Bombe" - the machine invented by the genius Alan Turing to crack the codes of the German Enigma machine.

Great image Shiela, Alan Turing was indeed a genius, the process used by the "Bombe" to sort all the permutations from the data it was given to crack the code generated by the Enigma machine was the foundation for, & indeed some say this was, the first computer. Now we can carry arround a small PDA capable of processing a thousand times more data a thousand times faster, the wonders of technology, but we would have none of it today had it not been for the work of Alan Turing & his team.

Turing was a genius. What was done to him is a big, big shame!
