7. Powick Mill stands beside Powick Bridge where the first battle of the Civil War was fought in 1642. They wouldn't have done much fighting if they'd had the weatherwe've had recently!
This stone was put there in memory of all the Scottish soldiers who died in the Battle of Worcester in 1651, the last battle of the civil war, which was fought only a couple of miles from the very first battle, 9 years earlier. This stone was laid by Tam Dalyell MP, a descendent of General Tam Dalyell, who fought in the battle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tam_Dalyell_of_the_Binns
