My son and I , on our way to watch the Chicago Cubs beat the Philadelphia Phillies back in August. The first time he ever rode on a train (only my third- we are rural hicks for sure). We both rode the El (elevated subway) for the first time that day, in route to the ballpark.
Yes, I know- the Cubs continued their 100 year run of loosing by not showing up in their 5 game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They didn't even give a peep against the Dodgers, loosing in the minimum of 3 games.
I have been a Chicago Cubs fan since I was born. My dad was a minor fan of the other Chicago team (the White Sox, who are still alive in the playoffs , down 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Whatever-they-are-calling themselves team), but he always raised me to be a fan of the long-suffering Cubs.
On the 100th anniversary of their last championship, fans were hoping for the end of the curse. No such luck.
And by the way- I am not a big fan of "Wait til' next year!"
Next year never comes for a Cubs fan....
Go White Sox!
