Slipped in an afternoon of fishing between storms last week. The water is high and very stained, but I managed to keep my consecutive months caught fish going by landing a few bluegills. The 6 largest made it to my skillet for dinner that evening. Hard to beat bluegill for flavor , especially during the winter months...

Looks like those fish are suckers for any bright shiny hook! Reminds me, I should get out and try to hook up a salmon or two this summer.

Yeah, I make the jigs I use for bluegills- just a size 10 jig painted hot pink, with a little tinsel material tied to the shaft. I only use bait in the winter- when it's warm, they will hit the jigs undressed ;-)

Wish I lived near the salmon- the only time I have ever caught them was on a charter boat in Lake Michigan! You should make an effort to catch a few, if they are near your local...
