The view looking east in the high banked curve at the north end of my route. The wind was blowing 25-30 miles per hour at this time, causing snow to blow and drift across the road. Because the snow fell on top of rain soaked pavement, the first couple of inches froze solid to the pavement. It took until mid afternoon one day after this photo for all of it to break up and melt. As long as the wind is blowing, you can't apply salt to the pavement- that would capture the drifting snow, causing even more snowpack to build up on the pavement ... | |
