Lease and I took a trip to Starved Rock State Park on Saturday. This park is situated on the banks of the Illinois river, and contains numerous sandstone bluffs and caves. For that reason, there are also many waterfalls in the park.
A few weeks ago, these waterfalls were still frozen. We planned this trip with the idea that we would either see the end of the frozen formations, or we would be there for the heaviest flow from spring thawing.
As you can see from this picture the ice is gone. The sky was overcast, so the colors are washed out in most of the shots we took.It is early in spring, so the trees are still bare. Very little has sprouted from the forest's floor.
That said- it was still a nice day to visit this park. Spending it with Lease made it even better... | |
