Took these photos last weekend. Went to the nuclear power plant lake to catch a few bluegill, and saw this view in a cove away from the hot water discharge. That's why the ice had formed- the low temperature the previous couple of nights had reached single digits, causing the first ice to form as "skirts" at the base of each tree before the entire lake froze solid. Since no snow fell in that time frame, the ice was clear . The fact that the day before the high temperature reached 40º caused some of the ice to melt, leaving a thin layer of water on the surface.
And yes, making some pretty cool reflections of the dead trees sticking out of the ice. Yeah- more reflection photos.
Since it was cloudy and gray, there wasn't much color in the photos. Good enough reason to edit them into black and white shots, IMHO.
