They are making their way back north after spending the winter in warmer climes.
We were only able to pull to within about 200 yards of these birds, not because I didn't want to spook them but because the water was so shallow where they sat. My depth finder kept beeping, meaning we were in less than 2' of water. Since I didn't feel like jumping in to the cold water to un-stick my boat, that was the best I could do.
The 10X zoom on the Canon Power Shot SX210, along with the image stabilization, made for some pretty good shots (IMHO) considering the distance... | |
