One of our "messes" from the catfish spawn last week. The two larger fish are males in full dark blue spawn colors, the smaller olive colored fish are females, and the tiny catfish is a Brown Bullhead cat tat had the misfortune of deep hooking on a chicken liver-tipped size 2 hook (he would have dies anyway, so into the bucket he went with the big ones)
All together, we landed 10 keeper Channel Catfish between 1 1/2 to 6 pounds.
Not bad for us.
We also brought home some nice bluegills on a couple of the days that we went after the Cats. Lease put most of those into the bucket while I was staring at my two bottom fishing poles, waiting for bites.
The freezer fish stock was running a little low, and I'm supposed to bring and fry fish at a coworker's birthday party this weekend.
I think I have enough White Bass and Bluegills from the past 12 months to feed the masses.
In other words?
I'm hoping I won't have to share my recent catch of catfish for this event.
I don't catch that many Catfish anyway- these might be all I put back until late summer.
Shouldn't be a problem- most people like the flavor of White Bass and Bluegill better anyway.... | |
