Both birds were found injured at local lakes, tangled up in fishing monofilament line. Both ended up having parts of their wings amputated, and neither can fly (effectively- they have to trim a few feathers so they don't try to fly away 4 feet off of the ground.)
I never leave trashed fishing line behind when I'm fishing, and if I see a pile of it someone else was to lazy to throw away I do it for them. These two were lucky they were found quickly enough. Many waterfowl die every year because of lazy fishermen... | |
