CHIEF!

Taken at the Illinois - Indiana football game a couple of weeks ago. He came from below the stands and stood at attention for the end of the Illinois bands performance of what they call "The Three in One". This is the song when the Chief used to perform at Illini home football and basketball games until he was banned and eliminated a couple of years ago.

Although he is no longer the symbol (not "mascot") for the U. of I., the Chief seems to show up every now and then. This time, he was only a few feet away.

His escorts were two Native Americans, btw, just in case you want to go all P.C. and tell me how wrong it is. Not every Native American plays for the same "team"...
