This bizarre little creature is a Hummingbird moth. This particular one was marked like a bumble bee, which really made it stood out. I have seen other Hummingbird moths feeding on my flowers after the sun sets, but this one was outside at 3pm in full sun. My granddaughter really got a kick out of his feeding from flower to flower in our perennial flower bed last week...
