I wonder, did you have the original in your mind, or did you use a photograph of the landscape, or is the image just created when you are at work?

I never use a photograph. Unless it would be a photograph taken by myself. My paintings are created when I am at work :-)
I draw with a pencil first a few lines , here that were the lines of the horizon and the lines of the hills. I wanted water, but only sky and water would be rather 'flat' I thought,
so I painted that mountain at the left.
But now I was not satisfied with the right corner of the canvas, so I painted a piece of flat land with in my mind the idea it was the foot of another mountain.
And still I was not satisfied! I wanted something that would make the water more vivid.
But how?
I looked for images of water in internet with the hints river, vivid and wild. Bingo!
Now I could see how wild water looked like.
Foam, dark spots.
