These pictures were taken today, Oct. 17th, 2009.

I have never seen such a spectacular fire. The flames were not visible from my point of view. They were hidden behind the buildings and houses.
The place where the fire took place is industrial estate. Oil, wood and other very inflammable material is stored there. That explains the heavy smoke.
One of the companies went bankrupt recently and several people (including our city) want to build there.

LOOK AT THE LARGE VIEW PLEASE

Wow, lot of smoke.
I read it on www.nu.nl

It is over now. I saw on a photo it was the roof that 'smoked' so awfully.
This was the second time the empty restaurant was on fire.

Ashdad, I read in the local news that the police had warned in the streets. We should shut all our windows. Unfortunately we hadn't heard that. There is always noise in our street. It so happened I was sitting at the table and I looked up and saw a light smoke in the street so I went on the balcony and saw people pointing into the direction where the smoke came from. I went to the gallery on the other side of our apppartment and was shocked to see what was going on. We immediately shut all our windows.
I was amazed that the shopping people wit little children with them were so careless. The didn't realize how bad it could be to inhale those fumes.
Some asbestos had come free was said in the news. And no dangerous dust had been found.........but they never tell you the whole truth, do they? :-(

Great collage Riet.
I am glad you closed the windows Riet, as this type of smoke can indeed be hazardous to your health.
