I've always been fascinated by the back of these old buildings. They face the main street downtown in St. Catharines (in Niagara Region). The street level are retail stores & the backs are apartments. At one time the view from the back looked over the first Welland Canal.

I understand that fascination.
The rear is usually so very different from the front.
Nice entry for this week's theme.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend

yvonNL, probably since most trains are usually more "out of sight", most would travel behind these types of buildings, or through industrial/manufacturing areas. I know Niagara Falls is also similar.
